DESCRIPTION BMW X7 XDrive40i M Sport

Introduction

The first-generation BMW X7 (codenamed G07) was launched in India on 25 July 2019.

Variants

It is available in a choice of three variants - the xDrive30d DPE Signature (seven-seat), xDrive30d DPE Signature and the xDrive40i M Sport.

Engine and transmission

BMW offers two engine options with the SUV. First up, there is a 2,993cc, inline, six-cylinder, twin-turbocharged diesel engine capable of developing 261bhp and 620Nm. Secondly, the range-topper M Sport gets a 2,998cc, six-cylinder, bi-turbo petrol unit that makes 335bhp and 450Nm. They are both mated to an eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission.

Exterior

The X7 is the largest SUV in the BMW lineup. In fact, it measures 5,151mm in length and has a sizable 3,105mm wheelbase. The massive SUV bears the typical X family design but with a touch of elegance. Besides, the X7 features BMW Laserlight with selective beam and adaptive headlights function, aluminium running board, BMW Individual roof rails, electronically controlled split tailgate, soft-closing doors and 21-inch wheels.

Interior

The lavish interior wears expensive Vernasca leather in either Coffee and Black or Cognac and Black. Moreover, BMW has used Sensatec synthetic leather for the fascia and Velour floor mats. In addition, there are electronically operated front seats with ventilation and heating functions, five-zone temperature control and two 12.3-inch screens with BMW Live Cockpit Professional.

Features

Being the top-of-the-line SUV, the X7 comes with all the bells and whistles. For instance, there is adaptive air suspension, a panoramic glass roof with light graphic composed of over 15,000 light elements, front temperature-controlled cup holders, BMW Display key, head-up display, 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, two 10.2-inch high-definition screen for the rear-seat passengers and reversing assistant.

Seating capacity

The X7 can accommodate five or seven passengers, depending on the variant.

Colours

BMW offers five distinctive colour options.

Rivals

The X7 takes on the Audi Q7, Mercedes-Benz GLS, Land Rover Range Rover and the Volvo XC90.
